MPSG job posting: Research Technician and Summer Student – Agronomy

Job title: Research Technician
Location: Carman, MB
Description: The Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers (MPSG) is seeking a highly motivated self-starter for a 6 month to 1 year Research Technician term position based in Carman, MB (with opportunity for full-time employment for the right candidate). This person will assist with and/or lead research and production activities under the guidance of the Production Specialist to implement MPSG’s research strategy. Key job areas and responsibilities include production and extension activities, working with MPSG’s On-Farm Network research partners, supporting activities related to crop variety evaluation trials, providing oversight to MPSG funded research projects and assisting with research proposals and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of agronomy practices, excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, and an interest to engage with farmers and industry. Knowledge of agronomy research design and field work, and statistical analysis, is an asset, as well as being proficient in Microsoft Suite. A Degree in Agriculture (or equivalent of education and experience) is required; a Master’s Degree is considered an asset. 2-5 years’ experience in the agricultural industry is preferred.
