Emergency use registration will now allow producers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to use Intego Solo (ethaboxam) for the suppression of Aphanomyces euteiches in field peas.
“Pulse production in Western Canada is now under serious threat from Aphanomyces – the most devastating disease in peas worldwide, according to the American Phytopathological Society,” Graham Collier, technical services manager for Western Canada with Nufarm Agriculture Inc, said in a release on April 7th. “Weather conditions across the prairies over the past few years have significantly increased disease pressure, and growers have been left with no control options, until this emergency use of new Intego Solo.”
Intego Solo is a Group 22 fungicide registered for use in lentils, chickpeas, dry beans and soybeans. The emergency use registration for field peas in western Canada will end on March 19, 2016.
The registration application was supported by Alberta Pulse Growers, Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, and Valent Canada Inc.
